The good news is I’m going to be $125 richer. The bad news is that’s because nobody likes reliable economy cars for some reason, so the Escort is on it s way to U Wrench It. I’ve had so many people make offers on it, but they were all only willing to pay less than scrap value. My best offer was $100 flat. Nobody wanted to repair it or even use it as a parts car. I just hope that it helps some other Escorts avoid the same fate. It’ll be weird to think that pieces of my car will be out there, holding together someone else’s beater.
I’m just mad that I spent as much time cleaning it as I did.

If it was reliable why were you selling it so cheap?
Honest question, not trolling.

Well, it was reliable in the sense that it only ever broke down once. The bad news is that that one breakdown was a total transmission failure, so it would need a replacement. Not expensive at all i f you had the means to do it yourself, but not worth paying a shop to do it.

Ok, now it makes more sense.
I think the number of people will to do that kind of work on an econo car these days is very few.
Most people won’t even pay to have one fixed. Instead they take out a $10k loan on a car because they couldn’t afford a $1k trans replacement on an otherwise good vehicle.......

Always a sad day when a car goes to the yard
